When technology and sports come together, the result is often groundbreaking. One such innovation is the Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses, a collaboration between Meta’s cutting-edge artificial intelligence and Oakley’s sleek, athletic design. Far from being just a fashion statement, these smart glasses are becoming essential companions for athletes. Meta recently shared details about the glasses on its official Facebook page.

This new release marks a significant shift not only in wearable tech but also in fashion and lifestyle.

Key Features of the Glasses

  1. The smart glasses are equipped with a 3K Ultra HD camera, allowing users to capture hands-free videos and photos. For those who have used Ray-Ban Meta glasses, this is a more advanced version.
  2. Built into the frame are powerful open-ear speakers that let users listen to music, podcasts, or take calls directly through the glasses.
  3. The battery is highly efficient—providing up to 8 hours of use on a single charge. Just 20 minutes of charging delivers 50% battery, and the included charging case can extend usage up to 48 hours.
  4. The glasses come with IPX4 water resistance, protecting them from sweat and light rain.
  5. The most impressive feature is the Meta AI assistant, which responds to voice commands. For example: “Hey Meta, what’s the wind speed?” or “Hey Meta, start recording.”

Who Are These Glasses For?

  1. Primarily designed for athletes, the glasses feature Oakley’s Prism lenses that enhance vision clarity and help in making quicker decisions during gameplay.
  2. Sports icons like football star Kylian Mbappé and NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes are featured in the promotional campaign.

When Will They Be Available?

The smart glasses will officially launch on July 11, with a pre-order price of $499. Other models will be released later this summer, starting at $399. Initially, they will be available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and select European countries. Availability in India, Mexico, and the UAE is expected toward the end of the year.

Where Will They Be Showcased?

The first public showcases will take place at Fanatics Fest (June 20–22) and UFC International Fight Week (June 25–27). Athletes like Gabriel Medina, J.R. Smith, and Boo Johnson will be on-site to demonstrate the glasses in action.
