Satellite-based internet service provider Starlink has officially launched its operations in Bangladesh. The company is starting with two internet packages: Starlink Residence and Residence Lite, priced at BDT 6,000 and BDT 4,200 per month, respectively.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, May 20, through a Facebook post by Faiz Taiyeb Ahmed, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser and a noted engineer and technologist. In the post, he confirmed that Starlink had contacted him via phone the previous evening and later officially announced the launch through its X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to Faiz, both packages offer unlimited data with speeds of up to 300 Mbps, and there are no speed or data caps. However, a one-time setup fee of BDT 47,000 is required for the necessary hardware.

He also stated that Bangladeshi users can start placing orders immediately, marking the realization of a goal set by the Chief Adviser — to launch Starlink within 90 days.

Despite being relatively expensive, Faiz noted that this service creates a sustainable, high-speed internet option for premium users. More importantly, it offers a reliable solution for remote areas lacking fiber or high-speed internet infrastructure. NGOs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs can now benefit from uninterrupted, year-round internet access.

He concluded by congratulating the Chief Adviser and everyone involved in making this milestone possible.
